Explore the magic of colouring handmade soap with plants, roots and botanical infusions.

In this specialty soap-making workshop, you’ll explore the fascinating world of natural colour in cold process soap making using botanicals, plant powders and infused oils.

Working with ingredients such as indigo, annatto and rhubarb root, you’ll discover how plants can create surprisingly rich and beautiful colours in handmade soap — without synthetic dyes or pigments. Through layering techniques and hands-on experimentation, you’ll learn how different preparation methods and the soap’s natural pH can dramatically influence the final result.

This workshop is inspired by the same slow, thoughtful processes found in natural fabric dyeing and botanical crafts, making it perfect for anyone drawn to earthy colour palettes, creative experimentation and plant-based making.

Whether you’re new to soap making or returning to expand your skills, this workshop offers a beautiful and rewarding introduction to the magic of botanical colour.

About This Workshop

Our Botanical Colour Soap Workshop is part of our rotating Soap Workshop Collection — a curated series of workshops exploring different ingredients, techniques and styles of cold process soap making.

This workshop focuses on natural botanical colour and layered soap design, creating a very different making experience to our marbled soap workshops. Each session explores a slightly different botanical palette depending on seasonal inspiration and ingredient availability, but may include deep indigo blues, warm annatto golds and soft rhubarb tones.

As these specialty soap workshops rotate throughout the year, we recommend booking early if this one speaks to you.

Returning Makers – Bring Back Your Mould

All participants receive a reusable silicone mould to keep and reuse at future soap workshops.

Returning guests are welcome to bring their mould back and book using our Refill Workshop option — a discounted ticket available to repeat attendees. It’s a small way to reduce waste while encouraging continued making and experimentation with new recipes.
