Create Your Own Stitched Artwork Using Simple Embroidery Techniques.

In this all-day school holiday workshop, kids will be introduced to the colourful and calming world of embroidery as they begin stitching their own design from start to finish.

Created especially for beginners, this class gently guides kids through a pre-drawn embroidery pattern, with a fresh new design for the holidays. This season, we’re introducing a new stitched artwork (with designs changing each school holidays), so returning participants can enjoy something different each time.

Over the course of the day, they’ll learn three foundational stitches (and some bonus ones if time and energy levels permit):

🧵 Back Stitch – great for outlines and shapes
🌼 Lazy Daisy – a fun, petal-shaped stitch with lots of impact
✨ French Knots – perfect for adding textured detail

The day is structured around learning one stitch at a time, with plenty of breaks to rest, snack, and admire each other’s work. Kids will work steadily on their design throughout the day, building confidence as they go.

They’ll take their finished piece home in the hoop, along with their needle and threads, so they can continue stitching during the holidays—perfect for quiet, screen-free time.

No experience needed — just curiosity and creativity!

What to bring

A packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
Please avoid foods containing nuts or other common allergens (as a courtesy to other participants).
Kids should wear clothes they’re comfy crafting in

Who It’s For

Perfect for kids aged 8–12. No prior experience needed – just a love of making! All materials provided.

Please note this class is not suitable for children under 8 years old or those in Years K–2, as the activities involve fine motor skills and fiddly techniques that younger children often find too challenging.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the seasonal nature of this workshop it can not be cancelled or rescheduled. You are welcome to send someone else in your place if you can't make it on the day. In most of our workshops we require a minimum number of people to run the workshop and will do our absolute best to run every workshop we list but occasionally it is not commercially feasible to do so. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the class; in this case, we'll inform you and allow you to get a full refund or reschedule.
