Join renowned textile artist Cath Derksema of The Happenstore for a beautifully hands-on day of creativity at Made By Me Workshop. In this special full-day workshop, you’ll screen print your own fabric panel using Cath’s pre-prepared nasturtium-inspired designs—then settle in for a relaxed, expressive embroidery session to stitch into your printed piece.

Cath will guide you through the process of printing from a curated selection of screens—it’s a smorgasbord of shapes, stems, leaves and florals to choose from. Once your panel is printed and set, you’ll dive into embroidery, using colourful threads and a variety of stitches to bring your design to life. Whether bold and bright or soft and subtle, your piece will grow and evolve in your own creative style.

What you need to bring with you:

• Small sharp scissors or snips
• Glasses, if needed for close work
• Clothes you don’t mind getting inky – aprons will be provided, but best to avoid your whites!

Suitable for:

 Beginners are warmly welcomed—no experience in printing or embroidery is necessary. This is a relaxed, joyful class perfect for creatives of all skill levels.

Cath Derksema is a Sydney-based textile artist, printmaker and founder of The Happenstore—a vibrant studio and creative hub in the Inner West. With a background in textile design and a passion for colour and process, Cath’s workshops are beloved for their warmth, playfulness and spirit of creative exploration. Her signature screen prints and hand-stitched artworks reflect a deep love of nature, making, and the magic of imperfection.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the limited number of spaces for workshops, all bookings are final and strictly non refundable. We do not refund classes but you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you can't make it on the day. Since Cath is a special guest teacher it is not possible to reschedule the workshop to another day. In most of our workshops we require a minimum number of people to run the workshop and will do our absolute best to run every workshop we list but occasionally it is not commercially feasible to do so. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the class; in this case, we'll inform you and allow you to get a full refund or reschedule.
