Learn how to make a traditional Christmas pudding using our cherished family recipe — cooked the old-fashioned way in a copper boiler.

Celebrate the festive season with a truly special hands-on workshop at Made By Me Workshop in Sydney. In this joyful class, you’ll create a rich, aromatic Christmas pudding from our family’s treasured recipe — the same one we’ve made together for decades.

We’ll guide you through every step of this time-honoured process, from mixing and wishing to wrapping and boiling your pudding in cloth using our well-loved copper boiler. The fruit for your pudding will already be beautifully soaked and plump (we start that part early!), so it’s ready for you to mix by hand and bring to life.

Each participant makes one pudding, cooked during the class and hung to dry overnight in our workshop. You’ll return the following week to collect your finished pudding — ready to mature perfectly in time for Christmas Day.

What You’ll Learn

  • The traditional method for making and cooking Christmas pudding in cloth
  • How to prepare and soak fruit for rich, festive flavour
  • Techniques for safely wrapping, boiling and hanging puddings
  • Tips for storing and ageing your pudding at home

  • A copy of our family recipe — ready to become your new Christmas tradition

Good to Know

  • You’re welcome to bring a friend or family member to share the experience (max two people per pudding).
  • About coins: older pre-decimal silver coins (such as sixpences or shillings) are safe to use, but modern coins are not suitable for cooking due to their metal content.
  • Feel free to bring a festive drink or treat to enjoy while we cook and chat - this is a morning class but I think its a Christmas rule that you can drink while cooking festive foods!
  • Bookings close one week prior so we can prepare ingredients.
