Step into the heart of a cherished family tradition with our "Make Your Own Traditional Christmas Pudding Workshop." This special class is more than just a baking session; it's a chance to experience the magic of creating a homemade Christmas pudding, just like we do in my family every year.
For as long as I can remember, my mum, my sisters, and I have gathered for a day of Christmas baking—a day that’s filled with laughter, memories, and the delicious aroma of festive treats. Now, we're inviting you to join us and create your own holiday tradition.
In this hands-on workshop, my mum (Anne) & my sister (Naomi) will be right there with us, sharing our secret recipe and the time-honoured techniques that make our pudding truly special. You’ll learn the whole process from start to finish, including:
- Soaking the fruit in advance to let those rich flavours develop.
- Mixing the pudding by hand (because wooden spoons just can’t compare!),
- Making three secret wishes as you stir.
- Cooking the pudding in cloth, just like we do at home, using the very same copper boiler we’ve used for decades.
Every participant will create their own pudding, which will be boiled to perfection in our copper during the workshop. Because the puddings require several hours to cook, they’ll need to hang and dry overnight in our space. You'll be invited to return to our workshop to collect your pudding the following week, just in time to let it mature for Christmas Day.
In the spirit of this family-focused activity, we encourage you to share the experience! Bring a friend or family member along to make a pudding together (limited to two people per pudding), turning this into a moment you’ll both cherish.
Our space is the perfect setting to celebrate the season together, filled with warmth, festive cheer, and a few shared stories. Feel free to bring your favourite Christmas drinks and snacks to enjoy while we create and to make it a true celebration of the festive season.
In our family, we also include old coins in the mix—this adds a touch of nostalgia and surprise on Christmas Day! While modern currency isn’t suitable for cooking, we encourage you to bring your own OLD coins if you’d like to include this festive tradition (please make sure these coins are safe to cook inside the pudding).
This workshop is designed to be as much about the joy of gathering as it is about the craft itself. Whether you come with loved ones or join us solo, you’ll be part of a welcoming group that loves to create and celebrate together.
To ensure we can cater correctly and avoid wastage, we will need to close bookings at least one week in advance.
