Silicone Mould Making & Resin Casting Workshop

Learn to make your own silicone moulds so you can create your own resin, terrazzo or concrete pots, homewares and jewellery pieces!!

In this workshop Rebecca (our Chief Crafting Officer) will take you through the steps to make your own silicone mould from scratch that you can then use over and over to create your own one-of-a-kind homewares, jewellery or art pieces.

In this hands-on workshop, you can choose to make a mould for a small pot, a candle holder, bangle or if you prefer your pieces a little larger we have an option to make a mould for a larger pot (this is the same pot we use for our Terrazzo Homewares Workshop). Once your mould is cured you will be able to cast a simple piece using 2 colours of Jesmonite (acrylic resin). We will demonstrate a marbling method that is easy to execute and creates beautiful results.

What you'll learn:

1.  How to design and make a mould as well as understanding the tools and materials that are used.
2. What silicon is and how to properly mix it and make a mould.
3. A basic understanding or what acrylic resin is and how to colour it and cast it into your mould.
4. How to sand and finish your piece to perfection.
5. How to clean and care for your mould so that you can continue to use it for many more castings.
6. At the end of this workshop you should understand the basic principles of working with silicon to make moulds as well as acrylic resin so that you can continue to create your own homewares and jewellery at home.

We are located upstairs above the shop, we will meet you out the front at the start of the workshop and escort you upstairs!

What you'll need to bring:

There is no need to bring anything but your enthusiasm and a bag to carry your creations home in.
We provide everything you need for the workshop including an apron to protect your clothes but it can get a bit messy so don't dress to impress.

Perfect for beginners and those who may have already attended our Terrazzo workshop and want to make their own moulds to expand their terrazzo range!

We believe craft is as much about creativity as it is about connection, in our workshops you have the opportunity to meet new friends, share a few stories, laugh with each other and simply enjoy some time out for yourself. Class sizes are always kept small so that participants will enjoy hands on assistance while you learn and create.

Silicone & Jesmonite are considered safe to work with by most experts. It does not emit toxic fumes and is safe when it comes into contact with skin, there are no documented health risks associated with either product but we always recommend pregnant women check with their health care professional before working with any chemicals.

Cancellation Policy: You can reschedule your class with up to 3 days notice, We do not refund classes but you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you can't make it on the day. We reserve the right to cancel classes if minimum numbers are not met in which case we will offer to reschedule or a full refund.
