Learn to Weave with Colour, Texture and Imagination – A New Workshop for Creative Kids!

This brand new weaving workshop is designed especially for kids who’ve been to our workshops before and are ready to try something new!

Using a custom cardboard loom they’ll make themselves, participants will learn the basics of hand weaving and experiment with colour, texture and pattern. We’ll explore three simple techniques — to create a beautiful mini wall hanging, finished with a piece of dowel for display at home.

This is a relaxed, mindful project that encourages kids to slow down and enjoy the process of building something by hand. If they don’t finish during the session, they’ll leave with their loom and yarn so they can keep weaving during the holidays.

What Kids Will Learn:

• How to set up (warp) a simple cardboard loom
• Three foundational weaving techniques: tabby, rya knots, and sumac
• How to create pattern and texture using yarn
• Tips for finishing and hanging their woven piece
• The joy of slow, process-based making

What to Bring:

• A packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle
• Please avoid sending foods containing nuts

• All materials (cardboard loom, yarns, plastic needle, and dowel for hanging)
• Step-by-step guidance and individual support
• They can take-home their loom and leftover yarn to keep weaving after class
